PPRIZECRATE

Terms & conditions

These terms govern every PrizeCrate prize competition. By entering, you accept them in full.

1. Who we are and what this is

PrizeCrate Ltd (“PrizeCrate”, “we”, “us”) operates skill-based prize competitions at prizecrate.co.uk. Our competitions are prize competitions within the meaning of the Gambling Act 2005: entry requires the exercise of skill (the skill question), and a free entry route is available for every competition. They are not lotteries, betting or gaming, and we are not licensed or regulated by the Gambling Commission because no licence is required for competitions of this kind.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be 18 years of age or older at the time of entry.
  • You must be a resident of the United Kingdom.
  • Employees of PrizeCrate Ltd, their immediate families, and anyone professionally connected with a specific competition (for example, the supplier of its prize) may not enter that competition.
  • We may require documentary proof of age, identity and residence before releasing any prize. Failure to provide it within 28 days of request forfeits the prize.
  • Entries made by, or on behalf of, a person under 18 are void. Any entry fees paid will be refunded and no prize will be awarded.

3. How to enter — paid entries

Paid entries are made through the website. You select a competition, choose your ticket quantity (and specific numbers if you wish), and must answer the competition’s skill question correctly before payment can be taken. If you answer incorrectly you will not be able to complete a paid entry for that competition. Ticket numbers are allocated at the point of successful payment and confirmed by email; allocated numbers are final and cannot be exchanged.

Each competition has a maximum number of tickets and a per-person entry limit, both stated on its page. The per-person limit applies across all orders and entry routes combined.

4. How to enter — free postal route

Every competition may be entered free of charge by sending an unenclosed first-class postcard including your full name, postal address, email address, telephone number, date of birth, the exact competition name, and your answer to that competition’s skill question, to the postal address published on our free entry route page. One postcard constitutes one entry; each postcard must be posted separately. Postal entries must be received before the competition closes and must answer the skill question correctly to be entered. Valid postal entries are allocated a ticket number and included in the draw on identical terms, and with identical odds, to paid entries. Per-person limits apply. Bulk, photocopied, or agency entries are invalid.

5. Closing, extensions and cancellation

  • Each competition closes at the date and time displayed, or earlier if all tickets sell out. We do not extend closing dates.
  • The draw takes place whether or not all tickets have been sold, and the full advertised prize is awarded.
  • We may cancel a competition where required by law or where circumstances beyond our reasonable control make it impossible to run fairly. If a competition is cancelled, all paid entries are refunded in full and postal entrants owe nothing.

6. The draw

Winners are selected by our provably fair draw procedure: before the competition closes we publish a sha256 hash of a secret random seed; after the close, the seed is revealed and the winning entry is determined by computing sha256 of the seed and final entry count, taken modulo the entry count, over all valid entries sorted by ticket number. The seed, hash, entry count, winning index and winning ticket number are published with each result. Anyone may verify any result using the tool at prizecrate.co.uk/verify. The published proof is definitive evidence of the outcome.

Some competitions include instant-win ticket numbers, published on the competition page. An instant-win prize is awarded automatically to the first valid entry allocated that ticket number. Instant wins do not affect the main draw.

7. Winners

  • Winners are notified by email (and telephone where provided) within 48 hours of the draw. If a winner cannot be reached within 14 days despite reasonable attempts, we may draw an alternative winner by the same procedure over the remaining entries.
  • We publish each winner’s first name, last initial, county (where known), winning ticket number and prize. Winners may be asked, but are never required, to take part in publicity.
  • Prizes are delivered free within the UK. Vehicles are transferred with applicable documentation; the winner is responsible for insurance, tax and running costs from handover.
  • Where a cash alternative is stated, the winner may choose it instead of the prize. Cash alternatives and cash prizes are paid by bank transfer within 14 days of confirmed winner details.
  • Prizes are not transferable and cannot be sold back to us except as a stated cash alternative.

8. Refunds

Ticket numbers are allocated and removed from sale immediately on purchase, so paid entries are non-refundable once confirmed, except where a competition is cancelled (clause 5), where an entry is void (clause 2), or where the law requires otherwise. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

9. Site credit

Instant wins and promotions may award site credit to your PrizeCrate wallet. Credit may be used against future entries. Credit has no cash value except where a specific promotion states it is withdrawable, is non-transferable, and may be removed from accounts closed for breach of these terms.

10. Fair use and disqualification

We may void entries and withhold prizes where there is reasonable evidence of fraud, automated entry, payment reversal or abuse, multiple accounts used to evade per-person limits, or breach of these terms. Chargebacks made against legitimately allocated entries will result in account suspension.

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that, we are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable when you entered, for postal entries lost or delayed in the post, for events outside our reasonable control, or for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability in connection with any competition is limited to the value of the relevant prize.

12. General

  • We may update these terms from time to time; the version published at the time you enter applies to that entry.
  • These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction (residents of Scotland or Northern Ireland may also bring proceedings in their home courts).
  • Questions and complaints: hello@prizecrate.co.uk. We respond within one working day and aim to resolve complaints within 14 days.
